What is the meaning of life?

Life is a state of being; in and of itself it has no meaning, beyond the biological imperative to preserve its species, to continue. Meaning comes from what that life accomplishes. For a tree that is making oxygen, enriching the soil, feeding other life forms. For a human, meaning comes from work, what is produced; a second meaning comes from the effect one has on others. If you’re a user, a destroyer of good, then the meaning of your life is a negative. Can this be off-set by also working and producing? Perhaps, to a degree, but then you have to consider worth as opposed to meaning. A hard-working honest person’s life has more worth than that of a hard-working but mean and dishonest person.

My conclusion is that the navel-gazing focus on “meaning” would be better directed to the effort of being more worthy. Work to make the world a better place by being a better person, and by being more worthy you have also taken care of meaning.
