What is the meaning of life?

The Japanese KAUKA was a wise man, who had studied zen buddhism in China. When people asked him for advise, he spoke a few words, then he disappeared to another place.
When the emperor heard about him, he asked him to come and talk to his people. “What is the meaning of life?” the emperor asked him. KAUKA took out a flute from his pocket, blew a short tone, turned around and left and was never seen again.
I do not believe there is a general meaning of life. To make our life worthwhile we have to find a way to live on, which is very personal. To give birth to children, bring them up and give them a good start in life, seems to make life worthwhile for most individuals. Living on in your children is one way to be part of life after your body has disappeared. A musician lives on in his music, an author in his writings, a painter in his paintings…….
Music and art gave my life a meaning and enough inspiration to go on being creative.
